Podcast Robot is a free, public MCP server at https://podcastindexrobot.com/mcp that lets AI assistants search and read podcast information from Podcast Index, public podcast feeds, public datasets and the Podping network. It is a proof of concept offered during a public test.
Anyone may connect an assistant or agent to the service without an account or key. The service is read-only, with one exception: the add_to_index tool notifies Podcast Index that a feed exists or has changed, and must only be used when the person operating the assistant asks for it.
The service is shared. The limit is 60 requests per minute per IP address with a burst of 30; requests above that receive HTTP 429 with a Retry-After header. Do not poll in tight loops; checking every 15 minutes is enough for watching feeds. We may lower limits, block abusive traffic, or pause the service when needed to keep it running for everyone.
Podcast titles, descriptions, audio, transcripts and artwork belong to the podcasters who publish them. Podcast Robot passes along what public feeds and Podcast Index provide, and links that open in your own podcast app. It does not host podcast audio.
Clip pages (/clip/...) quote up to five minutes of an episode's published transcript and play that window from the podcast's own server, with the show's artwork and links back to the episode and the show. They exist so listeners can point to a moment; they are not a copy of the episode. Podcasters who do not want clip pages for their show can write to info@podcastindex.org.
The service is provided as is, without warranties of any kind, as a free test. It may change, be interrupted, or stop at any time. Podcast Index LLC is not liable for losses arising from use of the service, to the extent permitted by law.
How we handle data is described in the privacy policy. In short: no accounts, nothing stored about you, and only tool names and search words recorded, without IP addresses, deleted after 30 days.
